Abuse/Security Response Analyst

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out network security tracking procedures
  • Monitor the company’s trouble-ticket system
  • Escalate issues to appropriate departments if needed
  • Manage and respond to resource abuse
  • Manage and respond to security related incidents
  • Carry out security audits of customer sites for insecure software and permissions
  • Provide training on abuse and/or security issues and procedures to support personnel
  • Outbound phone calls to companies as necessary
  • Written business to business communication as necessary
  • Address software issues for internal non-customer facing services
  • Track billable time based on company’s management model
  • Maintain company quality standards for all work done including responses to clients
  • Keep up to date on all company communications
  • Add and update resources to internal company knowledge bases
  • Other security related tasks as assigned by management
  • Consistently arrive on-time and ready to work


  • Basic understanding of server maintenance and security
  • Understanding of general IT protocols and port numbers
  • Linux and command line and/or bash knowledge
  • Ability to communicate with staff and clients in a professional manner
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and result oriented
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Ability to research, consume, and apply technical documentation on demand as necessary
  • Prioritize and complete tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced learning environment and adapt to new technologies
  • Work independently or as part of a team as necessary
  • Sit in one position for extended periods of time
  • Type 35 words per minute with reasonable accuracy

Desired Skills

  • Basic Unix shell scripting knowledge
  • Experience working in a web hosting environment
  • Familiarity with CentOS/RHEL
  • Experience using and/or troubleshooting cPanel and Plesk
  • Experience with LAMP stack and HTML
  • Experience setup and troubleshooting DNS
  • Type 35+ words per minute with 90%+ accuracy
