HostDime’s Nebula Facility Named Colombia Data Center Project of the Year

hostdime colombia data center award

HostDime Colombia’s Nebula data center has been named Colombia Data Center Project of the Year at the DCD LATAM Awards 2026, recognizing a project that has spent the past several years raising the bar for critical infrastructure in Colombia.

The award was presented September 23 during DCD Connect | LATAM in Cancun, Mexico. This year, Data Center Dynamics introduced dedicated Data Center Project of the Year categories for Colombia, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, giving individual markets across Latin America their own spotlight.

Nebula came out on top in the Colombia category.

DCD evaluates projects based on factors including design and execution, energy efficiency, sustainability, scalability, resilience, and alignment with international best practices. The award also considers the impact a project has had on Colombia’s broader digital infrastructure ecosystem.

For Nebula, the recognition arrives at an exciting moment for HostDime Colombia.

From Tier IV Design to a Certified Tier IV Facility

When HostDime began developing Nebula, the goal was to build infrastructure in Colombia capable of supporting the same mission-critical workloads found in more established global data center markets.

The five-story, 70,000-square-foot facility in the Bogotá region was designed from the ground up for that purpose. HostDime is the owner, operator, and developer of the facility, which can support more than 800 racks across private suites, colocation cages, and private rack deployments.

Nebula originally earned Uptime Institute’s Tier IV Certification of Design Documents, validating the facility’s engineering plans. In August 2026, it reached the next stage: Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility.

The Constructed Facility certification evaluates the data center that was actually built and operating. During the certification process, critical systems including generators, UPS infrastructure, switchgear, fuel systems, and cooling equipment are tested under real-world failure scenarios.

Nebula’s 2N architecture means critical infrastructure has independent redundant capacity, allowing individual systems to be maintained or experience a failure without requiring customer workloads to go offline.

For customers deciding where to place infrastructure they cannot afford to lose, that is the point of building to Tier IV standards in the first place.

Colombia Is Filling the Capacity

There is another number that says quite a bit about Nebula’s first few years: 95%.

Nebula was designed for 832 racks across four data halls, with 208 racks planned for each. HostDime Colombia’s first hall is already approximately 95% occupied and is carrying roughly 1.5 MW of IT load.

That demand is arriving as infrastructure requirements across Latin America are becoming more demanding.

Enterprises are running larger private cloud environments, building more geographically distributed infrastructure, and preparing for AI and GPU workloads that require considerably more power and cooling than a traditional enterprise rack.

HostDime Colombia is already planning for the next stage of that growth, with its second Nebula data hall targeted for the second quarter of 2027.

Building Critical Infrastructure in Colombia

HostDime has spent more than two decades investing in infrastructure outside the traditional data center hubs.

Nebula is part of that strategy: build purpose-built facilities in growing global edge markets, operate them with local teams, and give businesses in those markets access to infrastructure without requiring their workloads to leave the country or region.

The DCD award provides some outside validation that the investment is working.

Fernando Ávila, Chief Engineering Officer at HostDime Colombia, accepted the award on behalf of the team and emphasized what the project represents for the country: infrastructure capable of delivering the availability and reliability increasingly required by Colombian organizations.

That work continues. HostDime Colombia’s next goals include bringing additional Nebula capacity online and pursuing Uptime Institute’s Tier IV Gold Certification of Operational Sustainability, which evaluates how Tier-certified infrastructure is operated and maintained over time.

Nebula was built with a long runway in mind. With its first data hall approaching capacity, a Tier IV Constructed Facility certification now in hand, and Colombia Data Center Project of the Year added to the trophy case, that next phase is already underway.
