HostDime was on hand for this weekend’s “Smash the Record” tournament held here in Orlando, Florida. “Smash the Record” holds the Guinness World Record for “Longest Video Game Marathon Playing a Fighting Game”. Competitors from around the world participated in 72 non-stop hours of “Super Smash Brothers” action.
The second annual HostDime-sponsored event was organized by the University of Central Florida’s Gaming Knights. Last year, Smash the Record donated $13,902 to the St Jude’s Children Research Hospital. The lofty goal this year was to raise $50,000. Viewers on hand and on Twitch sent in donations throughout the weekend, and thankfully the goal was reached and exceeded with a grand total of $50,672.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated and congratulations to all associated with “Smash the Record”! Here’s to an even bigger and charitable event next year!
